Some months ago I had the same question... but now I have an Astra.
Why? Because:
- less fuel consumption than Accent
- more numbers of services in my city
- cheaper maintenance costs

I take it you are purchasing a used car. Opel Astra was a reliable car, as is the hyundai accent now. Both cars suffer from one major problem - very expensive spares. For some minor work on the front wheel, you will be shelling out over Rs. 5000, contrasted with Rs. 800 for Maruti or Tata's.
While both cars are reliable, remember that used cars tend to come up with problems just when they change owners. Hyundai and GM are in the business for the money from spare, hyundai more than GM, but the Astra is old now, and spares are hard to come by.
I'd recommend that you save a little more and spend your money on a New Maruti or Tata vehicle. The Esteem is reliable and cheap to run, and the Indigo is very spacious and economical, and is available in a great package as the Marina.

I bought an Accent in 2000. I have no complaints about the car. Every person I dealt with during the sale and since has had only one objective, get every penny I have. I suppose that's true of most car salespeople but the Hyundai seem to be the very worst I have ever had any dealing with. BTW, I am 58 years old and this is not the first car I have purchased.

After I had the car for about a month I was wishing I had bought a used Ford.

So my recommendation is anything but the Hyundai for service, timely delivery etc.

Good luck on your purchase.

Well then buy a good car then! better off with an old Saab or Volvo then any of that. I run an Old ford Transit in Europe since it is good and reliable and good on diesel also can use Bio-diesel at 77cents a litre, but if I had to use a car again, petrol, I would go back to Saab, cheap on insurance in the UK, good on fuel figures, safe in a crash, even an old 20 year old, can't say that for a 5 year old Opel or any eastern car. As long as you know where to get the work done on them when needed, I always have Saab in Britain, and feel safe, and why not have a good comfortable car, which even the old ones are more advanced than your average run of the mill, and rust is not so much of a problem with Saab or Volvo even though Ford has Volvo now, but again go for one before they did

If you believe that old is gold then go for the Opel Astra, an absolute classic model of the 90s
However if it is unavailable with modern hi-tech showrooms then you would have to settle for the common man's car, Accent

there's no evaluation. The Corolla will nonetheless be buzzing lengthy after the Hyundai has been consigned to the junk backyard. Toyotas are by technique of far the most good automobile contained in the international --- the streets are finished of Toyotas with 250,000 miles or more effective. Hyundai's commence giving issues an same day you pressure it abode. It has zilch resale fee because it really is this kind of terrible piece of crap. some human beings imagine Hyundai's are eastern -- they don't seem. they are Korean.

Both of them have their own pros and cons and let me tell you that no car is perfect. But in my opinion I think I go for the Opel because it is more economic and has a very cute inetrior.
