If you're in the UK you can hire through Hoseasons, but there are lots of little firms like Brewood Cruisers north of Wolverhampton where you can get access to the Llangollen Canal.

If you see any narrow boats with self adhesive geometric designs and roses etc and self adhesive signs 'no boots and shoes on deck' - I created and designed those back in 1970 when selling to the marine trade, just about when self adhesive 'stickers' were coming on the market!!!

Here you will find all the nice family firms who hire out

Yes, some hire fleets do this, try the larger fleets.

Soem of the "rings" are really good trips though, i don't know why you would avoid the Cheshire or Shroppy rings

If you are happy with a round trip, try some of the yards on the ring that you wish to cruise. Quite ofen then have 1 or 2 boats, rahter than a fleet, adn the costs may be lower.

Avoid "hiring from a friend". You will not be insured if you cause damage or hurt someone.

try to avoid the school summer holidays, the canals are too busy then anyway.

And don't forget to pop in and see us, the kettles on ( we're on the canal )

You can rent a canal boat on the Erie Canal . It is a marvelous trip and all the little towns are making dockside improvements including band stands and concerts.

Hi !
I have a nice narrowboat based in Bedfordshire.
It will accomodate up to six, but two very comfortably.
You could hire it to either head south down to London, or North up to the Avon, Birmingham & beyond.
Fully serviced and ready to run at any time.
I am off on my travels, but happy to lease it out, and drive it back from wherever, to avoid your return journey.
Much cheaper than the pro. hire companies, whose prices are getting a bit silly.
Obviously we would have to sort out fees/insurance etc.
It's 48ft, galley, loo, rear deck & front cockpit. Good for guitar practice through tunnels.
room on the roof for cycles sunbathing, & solid fuel for the pot-belly stove, if needed just for fun. Mains generator, oh the list could go on.
contact : bob.rowell
You will find me.
All the best, fellow boatie
