Is it possible for the IRS to take back a refund they already gave me? My husband and I filed a joint return a few weeks ago, with a 3600 refund. The IRS website told me that a direct deposit in this amount was scheduled to be made yesterday (Friday the 16th). I called my husband yesterday (overseas in germany) to find out if the deposit had been made. He went to the ATM, checked it, and said that all 3600 had been deposited. Then he called me this morning and said that the ATM was saying that the money was not there anymore. Is this possible? Can the IRS just take the entire amount of the refund back without notice, and that quickly? We're talking about hours here, and the IRS is not exactly opened on the weekend! Help!!!

I hope this is the correct place to ask this question.
I purchased a new truck that weight 8800 lbs this year for my Rental property business.
I use it 100% for the business and have another car for my personal use.
I put it into service in October of last year ( 2006 )and was wondering how much I can take off on the 179 deduction.
The problem is I didnt keep a mileage log but have all of my receits for gas, oil and all Maintenance.
Can I take the 179 deduction if I dont have a mileage log to prove the business use of the truck?

We moved from Florida to Tennessee last year. We improved house in florida before selling. We did not live in Florida house for full 24 months so we are being charged capital gains. We were told we could not claim remodeling/repair costs of house in Florida. Also when we moved to TN., after living in it for only a few months,we sold the first home(duplex)we purchased in TN.,to buy a house with a back yard.
We were informed by our tax prep lady the duplex could not be counted or we could not claim the loss on the house in Florida due to Tennessee tax laws.
Why are we unable to claim the cost of remodel on first house in Florida which includes home remodeling and cost of new water well. Can anyone help to clarify the real estate tax laws in state of Tennessee?

I have a 1099-B from my bank. This is the result of owning stocks offered by the bank, for which I used to get a 1099-DIV. But last year the bank was bought by another company, and now I get no 1099-DIV, but a 1099-B instead.

The info on my 1099-B:
"Description" (Box 7): Cash-in-Lieu
"Gross Proceeds" (Box 2): 20.08.

That's all.

In the instructions for Form 1040, on the page titled, "Where to Report Certain Items...," the directions for 1099-B say, "See the instructions on Form 1099-B." The instructions on Form 1099-B don't tell me anything about where to put these numbers!

What does "Cash-in-lieu" mean? Where do I put this $20.08 on my return? Do I need Schedule D or not?

I've done my own taxes for years, but this is the first 1099-B I've ever had, and it's completely alien to me!

I e-filed last week and turbo-tax said I'd receive a conformation e-mail within 48, which I did-but I didn't check my e-mail for a few days, (we moved and had no net access!) Is it too late to send it in since it's been more than 1 business day? Do I need to do something else?

Husband and wife own property in CT - husband and wife transfer property to a Living Trust for the Wife. Husband is the Trustee of the Living Trust. Husband is a veteran. In the past he received a property tax deduction because he owned the property with his wife - and since he was a veteran, he received a property tax credit. Question - Does the Veteran husband still get a tax credit on the real property if he is now the Trustee of the Living Trust created for his wife?

I filed an extension and never completed my 2005 taxes. I owed $600. I just completed my 2006 taxes and it shows an $1800 refund. I've been informed to file them separately. Do I still have to send a check for 2005 or can they deduct what I owe from my 2006?

Hmm anyone can possibly say why a Tax refund that was accepted and approved is showing up differently on the IRS where is my refund? The figure is far lower than that approved.

As far as we know there is nothing owing to anyone. No child support, nothing. Could it be a computer glitch in IRS system?

One minute it says a lower figure to be desposited to the bank Feb 16th, then the next when we re-check it says something about a mistake and to enter the date the refund was filed and the way it was filed.

Anyone one experiencing the same problem?

This time around payroll has stated that his paycheck is on hold???

Why is this. Are these a$$holes going to try and take it again or is it something to do with his company. He is still currently emplyed there

We recently moved. I have no idea if this would cause a problem
