I am waitressing while in college and my first few checks had about $5 taken for social security while the last one had $35 taken even though I worked approximately the same hours. What happened?

The trust has one trustee and one unrelated successor trustee who can be appointed as trustee anytime by the original trustee or is automatically appointed with death or incapacitation! The residence is valued at 4 million with other assets valued at 1 million for a total estate valued at 5 million today!

My ex and I had a messy breakup and just finished child support settlement. Last year he claimed our son on his taxes, although I couldve fought him over it. I let it go but this year I am definitely entitled to use our son on my taxes. He lives with me full time. My only problem is, my ex is very sneaky and since he claimed him last year, he has all the information he needs to do it again this year. Plus he's self employed so he has the opportunity to file before I get my W4s back. What happens if he claims him before I get my done? Will I loose my right to the credits?

We have opened a corporation and have 1 employee right now. So I would like to do payroll on my own. Does anyone have any information on where I could start? I am familiar with taxes and income tax filing in other countries so it isn't all Greek to me. However I was looking for some specific sites etc for the US and specifically NY state that could get me started.

Thanks so much!

I am recently married and just switched jobs. My salary is $60K and my wife's is $75K. She is currently claiming 2 allowances and filling single. I need to adjust her W-4 and submit mine for my new job. We are buying our first home and estimate that next year we will have $28K in interest to itemize...

My questions are:
A) how many allowances should we claim on both our W-4 forms

B) should we claim married or married, but withhold at higher single rate?

Do I just do my state tax for the times I was in each state and then one for federal (3 separate forms in all)? Or is it different b/c the majority of the time I was in GA? Do I get extra W-2's that show the amount earned in each state (husband is military so obviously its the same employer)? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I am starting at a new hair salon in ohio. she is keeping 50 % of my services, plus $10 for maintaining equipment. She is not, however, withholding any taxes, social security, or anything. If she is keeping half the money and I am not an independent contractor, doesn't she have to withhold something?

I chose 3 exemptions for this year. I make under 30,000 and every tax estimator program I use claims that I will own money this year. I have been using the standard deduction amount, not what I believe my actual deductions are.

I want to take advantage of medical tax deductions which I know should exceed 7.5%. Does anyone know, do I need every receipt for every visit or will a whole list of all the claims and my co-pays from the Insurance Company be enough? What can one do if the receipts are not all available?

This is a two part question: 1.)A buisness owner must pay employee taxes. If the employer did not know the the SS# was fraudulant, who keeps the unclaimed tax money paid by the employer and the taxes taken from employee checks? I know that unclaimed social security goes into an account.
2.) If interest is accumulating on this unclaimed social security why is social security going bankrupt when there are millions of illegal aliens who are not claiming it?
