The child must be born first. If you could claim an unborn child, just think how many people would do that, then get rid of the child, either through abortion or adoption. You will have to claim the child on next years taxes. Sorry, but congrats also.

No. He has to be born in the filing year to be claimed (next year).

No, the child and everything else are claimed on
the ACTUAL year (i.e. January to December)
that they occur.

That is, when you declare your 2007 taxes, you
can declare the events (and your child) on them.

There are exceptions to events that can be claimed
after the year they actually happened, but
children aren't one of them!

Most of them have to do with IRAs, etc.

No, the child must be born by midnight of December 31 of the year for you to deduct him/her.

But congratulations, and good luck on the rest of your pregnancy.

No
To claim your child, it would need a SSN. Your child won't get one until he/she is born.

You have to wait until the child is born and has a SSN.

nope, a child must have a SSN, for that to happen, it must be born alive.

not all pregnancies end in a live birth, so that's why you cannot claim that

btw, my birthday is april 6, horaaay
