Do i filed as married but separated and claim my son? what if he does the same thing will we get in trouble? HELP this may sound bad but i deserve the tax money i have worked and paid for our son all along and now i am the sole provider for him.

For the whole year of 2005 as well as half of 2006 I worked as 1099. However, the employer I worked for demanded that I work at a specific location mon-fri from 9 to (whenever they would let me leave... sometimes 9, 10pm - sometimes i wouldn't leave).

Reading the IRS's guidelines for how to classify tax filing, they state that if you can't work when you want, where you want to accomplish a "contract," then you are not an independent contractor. You are an employee - and your employer should be withholding tax and sending that into the IRS.

My employer did not do this and I filed as an Independent Contractor. The taxes were very steep. Now I am in a pickle for 2006 because I worked for half the year also as 1099, even though technically I was an employee.

How do I:

a. Refile or Amend for 2005 - what forms, etc.?
b. File as an employee for 2006 even though I had a 1099?

Will my ex-employer be penalized? Preferably, I don't want any harsh action taken. HELP!!!!

Thank you!

And you are never paid nor could you afford to hire a lawyer to go up against the State regarding money that I have never recieved from child support and they claim that the tax intercept does not exist from the HRS and their has been three audits on my case and all three are wrong and they claim they owe me nothing, and that the intercept does not exist ,when in fact if it didnt exist then How is it that I have the proof ,and through the years we have had to do without because of their screw ups.I just wonder how many other single parents have they done this too here in the United States. This is in regards of an injured spousal claim! Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Mateen, an inventor, obtained a patent on a chemical process to clean old aluminum siding so that it can be easily repainted. Mateen has no tax basis in the patent. Mateen does not have the capital to begin manufacturing and selling this product, so he has done nothing with the patent since obtaining it two years ago. Now a group of individuals have approached him and offered two alternatives. Under one alternative, they will pay Mateen $600,000 (payable evenly over the next 15 years) for the exclusive right to manufacture and sell the product. Under the other, they will form a business and contribute capital to it to begin manufacturing and selling the product; Mateen will receive 20% of the company’s shares of stock in exchange for all of his patent rights. Discuss which alternative is better for Mateen.

My husband and I have 9 children together. People are always teasing us about allowing them to claim some of our children on their taxes because (they say) we can only claim 2 of them anyways.
First of all I would NEVER do that, I know they are just teasing but what is this about, (us only being able to claim 2 of our children)??? We have always been able to claim all of our children and don't know what the dickens they are talkin about.

Please only serious answers.
Does anyone have any idea what they mean?

My younger sister is 17 and had worked for the last 3 months of 2006. She will be starting college in the fall and needs to start applying for financial aid for the 2007-2008 school year. She lives at home and our parents pay for more than 50% of her living expenses, so I know she would still be considered a dependent. However, when she applys for her federal grants for college she does not want to be associated with our parents federal taxes as they are behind in filing and it may cause her not to be able to get her grants. Is there a way that she can file her own taxes so she does not have to list our parents information on her grant applications?
