My husband failed to file taxes from when he lived 10 months in California in 1983. We live in another State and they are coming after him claiming thousands of dollars in interest and penalties on income that he earned while living there. To be honest, the amount they are asking him to pay is about a third of what he actually earned there!

When economists speak of the costs of taxation, they generally refer to the “dead weight” loss
of taxation and a general efficiency loss????

I've been told by my first controller that I worked with, that only the people who USE their SSN as their Tax ID are eligible for 1099? And I've been told by my second controller that its not true, there may be businesses that use their own business ID tax but are not corporations but LLC that are eligible for 1099 ? Who is right! Thank you!

it was fun at first but it's getting tiring and I'd rather just spend my money on a good stripper that knows how to treat me better than the government :) (Also, dont say leave the country or to become a bum or to become a celebrity....that wont work)

I am self-employed and am sending in my first ever tax return, so am not quite sure what I can deduct from my tax bill. I work mainly from home, but also in front of clients.
Can I use rent, electricity etc?
Can I deduct any of the expenses on clothes, make-up etc used for work?
My mobile phone is a billpay, so I am not charged for individual calls, just the overall monthly charge. Could I charge all of the bill, even though I do make some personal calls?
