I am going to make around 70,000 this year and might have around 6,000-7,000 in business expenses. I really don't have any receipts, but I used the same credit card for all my purchases and it shows on my credit card statements. Is this proof enough in case the governments asks for proof?

I knew that would draw in the Federal propaganda mouth pieces.

I ask you "America" this question

Every time someone posts a question like the one I posted above, there are several who come and answer in support of paying taxes with no law. They bring up the same old b.s. remarks about the 16th amendment being ratified and then go into title this and title that.

What real American has all this title information? What real American can even understand tax language or specific past court rulings?

No American - that is who!

What American have you ever spoken with who actually supported income taxation.

These people who answer these questions in support of taxation are Federal officers or the like, not Americans.

No real American is going to support giving up 1/3 of their paycheck.

These people are there to keep the lie going. Saying things like, "Go ahead and quit paying, see how fast they knock at your door". They use intimidation and threats - not law!

Wake up

I bought a home in 2005, and just sold it two years later. We made a lot of improvements on the home, to which I kept all the reciepts. Can I use them this year when I file my income tax return, as a deduction? I have been told I can, but I dont really understand how. Also moved and dont have a new accountant to ask yet. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks!

In the year of 2007 I lived in a Kansas, however in the middle of that year I moved back to my hometown in Oklahoma. When I moved back I lived with a family member. I do work and I am wondering if I can put the address that I lived in Kansas before I moved back home to Oklahoma. The family member I live with is using his own household to file his own taxes. Can I use the address in Kansas, or will it raise a red flag for the IRS, b/c I live and work in Oklahoma and I put down a Kansas address? Or does it not matter at all, as long as I file faithfully?

I would also like to add that I did not work in Kansas, and that whenever I do my taxes they submit it electronically through my bank account, and not through the mail. The person I am living with I am not related to, so he is the only one that can claim that household. What about if I use P.O. Box in Oklahoma? I've seen people do it before, so I don't believe that would be a threat either, would it ?

I am hosting a masquerade ball and hope to get several corporate sponsors. I am sure the corporations will ask if the sponsorship is tax exempt. Would it be? The checks will be made out to my business, expenses will be deducted and then 100% of proceeds minus expenses will go to charity.

I don't post on this board very often, and I apologise in advance if this kind of question is being posted all the time. It's just something that interests me though. Are high taxes or low taxes better for a country's economy? I would appreciate any views or comments.

Cheers.

If you own a business you obviously are going to write off a lot of things and you have to have your receipts right? Well how does the IRS check ALL your receipts? I mean you could have thousands, how do they check all of them and what steps do they take? You could ealisy have a lot of bogus receitps too, how could they tell?
