Why service tax on rental income. Already rented properties will fetch less rentals than before. Why people are being squeesed for no fault of theirs. How many taxes one has to pay? Every day there is an increase in prices. Petrol price is increased very frequently Filing more returns will invite corruption. Any answer?increased again n again. Every one is effected.

so my friend and i made around the same money last year and her mom did her taxes and she is supposedly getting around $700 BACK. when i used the H&R calculator, it said i was supposed to get $600 BACK (maybe without saying I am a dependent), but when my mom did my taxes & i did it on Turbotax, it said I am only supposed to get $253 BACK.

do you think it's possible that her mother said that she (my friend) wasn't a dependent, that's why she's getting that much back.

it's the only way i think?

It was money I earned the previous year, paid taxes on it, overpaid the IRS, & returned to me.
Every election year they talk tax reform but never address this issue.
Taxes were already paid on this money when I earned it, why do I pay taxes again when they return it?

I need to get my W2s from 2001 to 2005 (I'm in VT) I've contacted my previous employer asking for them but they are ignoring me. What can I do? Does anyone know if they have a legal obligation to give them to me? I know that you have to keep records for 7 years in case of an audit and I know they have them... Should I call the st dept of taxes and ask them to call them and request them? If anyone has any ideas please let me know. It would be a lot easier if they HAD to give them to me.
thanks

Since my mother died, my father (aged 77) and his two dogs moved in with us. We agreed he would contribute $300 each month towards his keep plus dog food, treats, etc. He is now asking if I am declaring this on my tax return. Is it income? It is costing us much more than $300 a month for him to live with us.
