As far as I know, there aren't any websites that someone in that tax bracket can use for free filing. However, many locales offer free filing for senior citizens through their village/town. Maybe your dad could check with his town to see if there's anything like that available.

If not, TurboTax Basic edition is pretty cheap. If his return isn't too complicated, maybe Dad would prefer to go that route instead.

There are plenty of places that you can e-fle for free if your income is only $50. But if your income is over $60k, you're generally out of luck on that.

The Free E-File program is for folks of more modest means. Someone who earns $60k earns enough $$$ that they can pay to have their returns prepared and filed if they don't want to do it themselves. They get no sympathy from me.

$14.95 at turbotax.com if you want to do it yourself. I can't see any other way to get it done cheaper, except by yourself by hand.
ask around to family friends and coworkers....maybe somebody knows somebody who does taxes on the side who might only charge $50 to $100.

Only way to get it done for free is to do it yourself. Is it that he CAN'T spare the cash or that he just doesn't WANT to?
