TT services are available as a software download from turbotax.com, on a CD-ROM from your local store (office supply, department, warehouse club, etc), or by using their online services at turbotax.com.

Cost varies by how complex your return is, how much handholding you require, whether you also need state tax filing help, and if you choose to efile. If you qualify through the IRS FreeFile program, you can use the online service and efile for free.

TT is considered the application that provides the most assistance in ferreting out your tax situation. Many people don't need that level of handholding and use other just-as-capable software. Only other way of getting more help is by getting a tax pro to do the filing for you.

Good luck.

It is software. Depending on the version and whether or not you need your state's version for state income tax, it'll run you anywhere from about $20-60. It is incredibly user friendly and will step you through the entire preparation and filing process.

H&R Block's TaxCut is just as simple and effective, and is usually cheaper. I've used both and use TaxCut now.
