For example, say my wife is stressing out over current problems and I send her back to her home country for a month, so that she can relieve tension by spending time with family and such. Can the expenses incurred be considered as a deduction, perchance being listed under medical since this was done for a theraputic reason?

I received an email from a BMW remittance Manager telling me that my email won me a BMW vehicle and a 450 thousand sterling. I had to submit my contact details and a scanned copy of my passport to have the cheque couriered to me via The (Atlantic Express Courier LTD). The courier ompany then contacted my by email and telephone asking for delivery fees of 760 sterling to be tranfered to them in advance. And a scanned copy of the payment receipt, however when I wrote them saying that i do not have this amount the agent called me back and said I can pay the half. I am really not sure if that is OK. specially that the fees are too high. Please tell me.

I am a former employee of Firestone International. For banking purpose I was issued a US Social Security Number. I am no longer with Firestone and the account has been closed since 1989. An organization interested in my services wants me to process an IRS for task purposes. But someone in the possession of a social security number (SSN) is not allowed to process an IRS individual tax payer identification number (ITIN). I no longer know my SSN. I am an alien and have never entered US soil. I am presently residing in the Ivory Coast (Cote d'Ivoire). What should I do?

The reason for filing seperately is: our incomes together is too much ($150,000) to qualify for the $25,000 real estate losses, and student loan interest of $8000. If we file seperate returns will would qualify for the tax breaks noted above.
thanks,
thomas

It's tax season, so I thought I'd post a question on tax returns. I have been married to my military husband for almost 20 months. I just got my first social security number this week. I have a couple of questions so please help me out.

1. Can he claim me as his dependent (I don't work), even if I just got my ssn? If so, how much will he get for one dependent? That will just be me though, since we don't have any kids yet.

2. He was deployed for much of 2006, and his paychecks were tax-free. Does that mean he's not getting anything at all?

I'd appreciate all advice.
Thanks!

Got my 1098-t back, I have about 400 bucks in T&fees. Parents combined income is over 110,000 and they claim me as dependent. I can't use the Hope Credit because it's not my first two years of school but if they claim tuition and fees and/or Lifetime learning how much are they going to save or "get back"? Will they save anything? Is it really worth it?
