I am pretty much a stay at homemom. I have a small part time job where I made about 4,000 dollars. They did not take any taxes out of each of my pay checks. If I didn't turn the W-2 stub in with my taxes, what will happen? Can the government find out?

I made one stock sale in 2006 (for less than $500), and I was taking a loss in doing so. On top of that, my interest earnings were negligible. Do I have to use form 1040 because of the stock sale anyway, or can I just use 1040A?

Please help me to understand how the hell both my husband and I together paid in over $7,000 in taxes and we have to pay in about $684 this year. Granted we have no dependents but I think we deserve to get SOMETHING! I know a lot of people who don't pay hardly anything in, some are on welfare, and they're knocking off over $2,000 per kid. I don't get it. WE choose to have children so we should have to pay for them. That's almost an incentive for people to go out and have a ton of kids. A lot of our "capable-of-working" welfare people are living in brand new houses and are getting tax returns like you wouldn't believe and they never even worked one day the whole year. Please help me understand!

I made about $5800 this year and this was on a 1099 - I also made $1800 that was on a w-2. I am a student, but do you think I will have to pay any taxes? I had heard that if it was under a certain amount I was exempt. Is this true?

My employer still hasn't sent me the normal end-of-year tax summary. Does the government send it, or is it the employer who is responsible? I'm not really itching to do my taxes, just curious.

I keep seeing answers where people advise MARRIED people that are separated to file as single or head of household. That's wrong and against tax law. Are people just ignorant or do they think they know tax law when they don't have a clue?

We recently had to do a shortsale of our home which
was under a VA Laon with a 56000.00 GIF
The box 5 is marked No, so does this mean
we do not have to claim this as income, since
this was more than likely covered by the VA gif loan?

When I enter the Ordinary business Income on line 1 of Schedule K, is that how much we made minus our cost of goods sold and deductions? OR do I cut that in half since my partner and I own the business 50/50?

Example: Say our Ordinary business Income is $500 on the first page of form 1065, line 22. When I work on Schedule K, do I enter the amount of $500 or $250 on line 1 to indicated my share?
