If I paid property taxes on one of my daughters properties can I write it off on my taxes? I live in the home and have an in home business that allows me to write off 100% of my home! Again since I paid the taxes can I claim it on my income taxes?

No, only the person who is legally responsible for payment of the property taxes (your daughter) can take the deduction for them. If she didn't pay them, nobody gets a deduction.

I'm quite suspicious of your claim that you have an in-home business that allows you to write off 100% of your home. Although it is possible to take a deduction for a home office, the rules are VERY strict and any claim of 100% of home costs is GUARANTEED to trigger an audit.

If you aren't legally required to pay the taxes, then no, you can't deduct them even if you pay them.

And another thing - if you have a home business, you can only deduct the part of the home that is used for business. If you live there also, that sure isn't 100%. If you take 100% of the house as a business expense, the IRS will be visiting you eventually and you'll be paying a lot back.

No. The only person who can deduct property taxes paid on a home is the legal owner of the home, and the legal owner can only deduct them if they actually paid them.

***Re your followup comment about in-home daycare---make sure you read up on IRS Pub 587.

I'm confused about the fact that in your first sentence you say the house is your daughters and in your second sentence you refer to "the home" and call it "my home". Are you talking about 2 different homes or just 1 home owned by your daughter? You can't take the business use of home deduction on your tax return for your business if the business is run in your daughter's home.
