That was the first time and only time I tried doing it my self, I made a mistake by adding the wrong amount on the interest paid on my mortgage so I owe 1235 back to them. I'm planning to paid them as next tax season, so if I ignore it for now would that affect me?

Hey everyone, I need an answer in just a few hours before I have to go to work and turn in my W-4 forms. I don't really know the justs of it, but from what I can tell, I have 2 options, I can either A. Get alot of money each month but a much smaller tax return at the end of tax season, or B. loose hundreds of dollars each month, but get a check at the end of tax season.

The only problem is I don't know how to do either. Do I just put in 0's and not even claim myself for option A? Or do I just put in 1's to get more money each month like in option B? Or do I have to put ones in some fields and 0's in other SPECIFIC fields? Pls answer this ASAP I have to be at work by ten in morning and it's 2AM already. Thansk.

I have a business in Wa. state. When someone from Oregon or Alaska buys a prepared food item from my business and insists they do not pay sales tax because of the state they come from, do I legally have to honor the tax exempt status they claim. I think it does not apply to food products consumend in this state, but would like reinforcement or even an official govt. web site answer I could print out. I saw something in a store that simply said, " dept of revenue" on the heading, addressing this issue but couldn't find it on line. Can anyone out there help me? Thanks

I am selling some property in another state right now and I'd like to give some money to my child towards a home. Is there a way I can give the money as a gift or some way to invest the money so I'm not paying taxes on it in this state also? I'd like to give my child about $70,000.

A few years ago we won a lawsuit against MSDW for negligance and fraud. I have been contacted by a company that is telling me that we may be eligilble to file under the IRS tax code 165 for a refund of some sort. I'm a bit leary, but of course curious... we were awarded money from the lawsuit but nothing close to what we had lost. Is this a legitimate code and if so could we get money back?

Is it correct that as a NJ employer, I must withhold NJ taxes for all employees (even employees that reside in New York state) and that I should not withhold NY State or NY City taxes?

If so, how do employees that live in New York state and possibly New York City, receive a credit for taxes paid in NJ?

Can my business do any witholding for NY State and/or NY City taxes?
