Yes you can claim them as dependents as long as you provide half of their support, which your question indicates you do. In 2008 it will depend on what their income is. Will it be 200-300 each or together? If they don't make enough to have to pay taxes or get anything back, you can claim them or if they're getting money back they can file but not claim themselves and you can still be able to do that.

Of course, you can claim them as dependents no matter what their age if you provide at least 50% of their sustenance [housing, utilities, medical care, food, clothing and the such]. As for the Social Security benefits they'll receive when they turn 62, this income is not taxable, i.e. neither they not you need to pay any taxes on that money. I used to claim my mom as dependent when she divorced my dad and was living with me [she was about 52 at the time], because she didn't have any income of her own. Good luck, and hope this information has been of help.

Yes, you can claim them as dependents. The instructions for any Federal tax form will have details. The primary requirements are providing at least half of their support. SSI is only taxable is they have earned income above a certain amount. In your case, they don't have any.

i believe you can claim them if they are living with you and you pay more than 50% of the household expenses. and i do not believe the have to file income tax returns when they are collecting $200-300 a month. but check with the person who does your tax returns. and if that person is you, if you go to h&r block.com they can pretty much walk you through your return and it is really cheap!!

Yes, you can claim them as dependents as long as you provide over half their support. You can also claim head of household status if you are not married.

You most certainly can....
Go to IRS.GOV and type in dependants... there you will find the many types of dependants you can claim, and to what extent you can claim them.
