Hello!
Would love some advice form traders please. From what started out as a hobby, I am now currently trading about £7000 a month on eBay, making about £800 after fees and stuff. The problem is I not think I should register for tax but Im a little naive, but a bigger issue is VAT. All items I buy are 2nd hand and therefore pay no VAT on at purchase, but if I go full time, and get VAT registered, do I have to pay 17.5% on all sales, therefore wiping out my profit margin?

Big thanks for any advice.

Cheers

My taxable income is $40,000, residence is in MD and I'm single. Not accounting for Health/dental insurance contribution. I work for a non-profit organization if that makes any difference.

We are setting up a new dental office.
We have heard that cost for certain (spcific dental) work put in the building can be used in some way for tax advantage. But we have to submit / keep "cost segragation analysys".

File TWH 07142006 :spot crude hit 78$/bbl overnight and stock market is crashing while Bush43 at summit focused on foreign policy issues ignoring all the pressing domestic issues at home--esp the costs of gasoline and the unchallenged, on-going, rip-off of American consumers of energy.

Note: We need a "Cost of Living" subcategory under Economics

If he decides to pay his rent using a money order bought with cash that he earned doing odd jobs, would the IRS be able to detect it? In other words, would that person get in trouble for not reporting it on his federal tax form?
