can I go to the county and request them to remove it once I pay it off? My credit was perfect until this lein.

It will still appear on your credit report, but it should show as paid. After you pay it off, get a copy of your report to be sure.

Not likely. It will probably stay on your credit report for a few years. The reason is very simple. Statistically, behaviors are likely to repeat. I'm not sure about state but a Federal tax lien stays until a release is filed by you with all the correct papers from the government showing you paid, Its difficult to do I feel .Get help from a attorney its always good to cover all legal bases. Good luck
