can I go to the county and request them to remove it once I pay it off? My credit was perfect until this lein.

It will still appear on your credit report, but it should show as paid. After you pay it off, get a copy of your report to be sure.

Not likely. It will probably stay on your credit report for a few years. The reason is very simple. Statistically, behaviors are likely to repeat. If you had a tax lien recently, you are more likely than the average person to have one again. The more time passes since you resolved the lien, the less likely you are to have one again. This is why information about your tax lien is likely to stay on your credit report for a while.

I'm not sure about state but a Federal tax lien stays until a release is filed by you with all the correct papers from the government showing you paid, Its difficult to do I feel .Get help from a attorney its always good to cover all legal bases. Good luck
