I manage a small picture framing business very close to my home. I make a very small wage there (under $10.00 per hour) and I need to make an extra $100.00 per month in order to upgrade my family's current health insurance plan. The hours and the location of my job are ideal. I have 2 disabled children that need a lot of my time right now to help them with their development issues. With all of the travel involved in driving them to each of their therapy, school, and treatment centers, I am unable to work a second job.

So, in conclusion I am looking for ideas for a side business that I could start and do during the 3-4 hours a day that I sit in my store waiting for customers to come in. Keep in mind; this is a convenient dead end job. There is no room for advancement so advertising for the store or bringing in more business is not going to increase my pay or benefits (declined for more $ per hr.). I am looking for ideas for side work to be done while waiting. No Quixtar please!

After visiting the one here, the only reason I can come up with is that a large majority of folks that shop there actually HAVE fleas. That or other problems related to inbreeding. Any thoughts?

If I were to try and persue a career in toy making/stuff animals(obviously my original designs) would that get me very far?
I understand it would depend on the dolls appearances', but trust me, they are pretty good.

I really want a freeze dryer, but they are so expensive so I will grow flowers and herbs for medicinal and culinary use. I make flower arrangements and wreaths, ect. from dried flowers that I grow myself. I can't make enough $ doing just that, so I want to also make herbal soaps and such and also sell perennials, herbs, and shrubs. Any grants that I would qualify for ?

I know I can go to the SBA. But would they consider helping me considering I've got not so good credit? I know the type of business I want to start and I know I would be excellent at it. I know how to succeed. I want to start an upscale romantic restaurant with international appeal. Its not "italian" or "french" or "latin". Its the best of the best. I have restaurant experience and know how to efficiently run one. Does anyone think I have a chance?

a business opportunity before they really know facts. They just assume the opportunities are scams. Do you guys not realize being in business is not easy - Like going to the gym...If being slim trim and in shape was easy and did not require WORK everyone would have the perfect body? What do you think?!?

I work for a small business with a few joint owners and 15 slaves to the man. Work conditions are awful. Pay is poor to average at best. The system we use to do our business is outdated and rediculous, and we must work weekends to catch up with the competition because the ownership is not open to change. I feel the only way to force change for the better is to begin a union to bargain with, but the main owner has made it clear that he will not tolerate a unionized work force. So my specific question is: how to I start or join a union that will bring our employer into the 21st century without getting everyone fired?
