i m very good at framing taping and painting including faux finishesi.my main interest is flooring (hard wood laminate tiles) ,especially custom flooring . do i need a license for that?

You need a general business license to operate legally. You can work on projects up to $500 (at a single site) without a contractor's license. If you work on projects over $500, you need the license.
