We just moved into a new house 4 months ago. Unfortunately, my husband was laid off right as we were moving in. We've been struggling to maintain or mortgage over the last couple of months while he searched for work. Now, he is employed and we're fine, but we have a backlog to catch up. We talked to our lender and they made arrangements to stretch our past due amount over the next 9 months; however, we have a tremendous amount to pay out this month to seal this arrangement. We need to secure a short term loan to help us out in this situation. The only problem is, our credit is not the best, though we are in the process of repairing it. Please offer some creative solutions for raising the money this month. If we were able to secure an additional $3,000 to add to our income, we can still have Christmas this year. We are not concerned about buying a lot of gifts as much as just enjoying the holiday in our new home.

I need to pay rent, and I need to know if these personal checks will still be good even though the bank name has changed. The checks do say "JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A" underneath the Bank One logo.

it's either getting spent before the bills get paid, getting actually lost, stolen, or loaned out without the chance of repayment. then, the only money that's left has to go toward the bills instead of providing things that the family needs... even christmas gifts for the children.

Hi, I am willing to put about $400 in a savings account each month. I know, its not much, but it's all I can spare at the moment. I researched a WaMu savings account and It costs $4 a month to maintain with no minimum required. Is this my best bet? If not, which bank should I turn to? Also, which bank would give me the best APY?

I made some bad credit card decisions when I was younger and I've been paying for it for quite some time now. I'm going to college full time, about to graduate, and working 20-30 hours/week. The money I earn is barley enough to cover my monthly payments. The rate I'm going with interest and all, it will take me a while to pay this off. What is the best way to go about filing bankruptcy and how much does it cost? Will all my debt be wiped out completely?

Here is the deal, I am 37 and never started investing until a few months ago with the new job I started here in Vegas with MGM, they match 50% and I am only contributing 4% of my $25,000 salary. I first signed up with a (Conservative Allocation Fund MACJX) but after talking with a few people I changed it to the (Aggressive Allocation Fund MAALX)...I guess it is a large growth pre-mixed selection of mutual funds, just not sure if I made the wise choice? Any help would be appreciated!!

I would like to thing about retiring within the next year. I will be 59 in January and probably can wait to collect SS till I am 62 or even 65. From the average Joe, how much savings or investments should I have? I don't live and will not live like a man of means but also I don't want to live like a destitute person. I don't own my own home here but do own a very nice home in another country. I would love to live part time here and in that other country.
Let's hear your thoughts.
