Shouldn't cost more than food and utilities. At 16 I covered all my clothes (except for $100 given at beg. of each school year), my car, my insurance, my cell phone, repairs, food and entertainment. Food for one teen would be about $150/month max and utilities should not be more than $75/month

Well, I'll write the necessary for a good education of a fifteen years old boy. No christmas gifts, no ps3's, no extra money and no brand clothes just the Minimum to survive and grow healthy with good education.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Quality Food = $500/monthly = $6k a year.
Computer with Internet = Free since you'll probably share yours.
Home = Free.
Clothes = ~$10/monthly = $120 a year.
Dental & Medical care = ~$20/monthly = $240 a year.
Power & Water = ~$20/monthly = $240 a year.
Private School = $2000/monthly = $24k a year.
Transport(usually to school) = $50/monthly = $600 a year.

Total: Around USD$31,200.00 a year.

Don't worry, this is just the minimum to prepare your kid to the real world. ;)

the cost is actually relative to what you make per year and how you raise you children, what kind of spending habits you bestow unto them, and how much money you give them in the first place. parents teach their children in numerous ways how much money they use on a daily basis.
