I'm about to be a 19 year old college student and I was wondering what is the best way for me to start saving. After this semester my scholarships will cover all college expenses. Only money I will spend will be for dates, birthdays, holidays, and of course gas money. After this summer I will have sufficient funds to either invest or put money into a savings account and allow it to draw interest. What is the best bet for me to have a reasonable amount to fall back on when I'm older. I'm not asking what will make me a millionaire but what will allow me to live comfortably. Thanks.

I have seen the sites online and it looks pretty easy to do, but I don't really trust online money things. I'm getting ready to take a vacation and would like to get the money to take with me....and they seem to do it pretty fast. Anyone gotten one before? I did find one through a reputable lender but i'm still kind of wary.

in relation to unclaimed funds. These mutual funds remained untouched for 33 yrs..is it worth anything?
Possibly from life insurance through state employment which was abandoned and turned over to stock ..then into the comptrollers hands.

I am 24 years old. I have a 97 Toyota Corolla with 70,000 miles. I could potentially drive it the rest of my life is gas is still the fuel of choice by then. I work in the financial industry and the business I've just started has allowed me to recently start making $180-$200k a year.. right now I have $60k saved up and my goal is to hit a $1million with investments in 3-5 years. I tend to be a very serious person and having a little fun and upgrading my car to a nicer Audi A4 could be fun, and healthy.. but its not always fiscally responsible and maybe I should just save till I hit the dream $1 million.. Give me your thoughts?

My wife & I are aged 50 & 53. Recently we were offered a stakeholder/ISA pension plan that starts with a lump sum investment of £2028, then continues with a monthly investment of £65. If we keep this up for 10 years we get a tax free lump sum of £4000 & an index linked taxable monthly income of £32, if 15 years £6770 lump plus £63 monthly. This is meant to be more tax efficient.
Instead we could just put the money into a savings account at 5% & pay tax on the interest.
According to my spreadsheet, we'd still be better off in 30 years by putting the money into the savings account & paying tax. Are we just too old to start a pension scheme, or are the stakeholder & ISA arrangements not as good as they seem?

I'm seeing a lot of things about these pre-paid Visa cards. Some of them have huge limits that you can put on the card using cash as long as you go to one of their distributors. So, what's to keep people from filling up these cards with unreported cash (from gambling winnings or something similar) and not reporting it to the I.R.S or the ex-spouse looking for more alimony??

I work with some shady people, nothing illegal though, so I use a false name to get paid. Since the checks are mine and belong to my false name, can I sign them over to my real self and then deposit them in my checking account? Any legal barbs to this? I realise if the check goes back to the employer they would see my real name anyway but thats just one person and not an issue.

The banks were making money, even before the ATM`S were BORN. Why so much, money is charged 3 times over, 1, using the machine, to get it out, the credit card company/s, charge U, & then the bank, People like us on fixed income, can`t afford ALL, the charges, & for that matter, most common people, can`t afford, why not Just a 50 cent charge, 1 time fee for that, & that`s that!!!
