Is it possible to be sued in court for owing 2-3k? what happen is I bought a used car a yr ago. The salesman lied to me big time. i gave a downpayment of 2k for a full loan but he said that it wasn't enough. He offered to lend me money for the car so i signed a IOU. After buying it, there are so much problem with the car like my car warranty was void, foreign country outstanding tickets, condition of the car was terrible, my car's engine gave me the biggest headache and repairing it costed me a bomb, which it's amount is even much more than i owe him. I told him abt the repair and he didn't bother at all. Aft handing the car over to me and i found out that the road tax is expiring in another 10 days, i informed him and said that he offered 1/5 of the price of the roadtax. I told him that the car workshop said that my car's warranty has been void and he didn't even bother. So i decided not to pay him the money i owe him because i felt that i don't owe him either. what should i do?

I have spent many years in school to get my engineering degree, and now I am about to move up the ladder to another company as a director of engineering with almost double my current pay. I hate to spend my companies money, and use the companies $$ wisely...

Yet, beyond my 401K, I seem to be a financial disaster...late CC payments, etc, which is incredibly stupid.

Where should I really start to get a grip on reality of my OWN finances, especially now that I am going into a 6 figure income, and I want more to show for it than just stuff.

I need help!

MY MOM HAS AN UNPAID BILL THAT SHE OWES TO EDISON OF CA. $616.13. I USED MY DEBIT CARD TO PAY MY MOM'S BILL TWICE. NOW I HAVE MY OWE ACCOUNT WITH EDISON. THEY ARE NOW TRYING TO STICK ME WITH MY MOMS BILL. THEY ARE TELLING ME I WAS JOINT ON HER ACCOUNT. BUT WHEN I ASK FOR PROOF THERE IS NONE. SO THEY ONLY THING LINKING ME TO THIS BILL IS THE DEBIT CARD I USED TO PAY THE BILL WITH. I ASKED IF IT WAS LEGAL AND THIS IS WHAT I WAS TOLD.
"individual liability for joint service....where two or more persons join in one application or contract for electris service they shall be jointly and severally liable thereunder and shall be billed by a singel periodic bill mailed to the person designated on the application to receive the bill. whether or not SCE obtained a joint application two or more persons accupy the sam premises they shall be jointly and severally liable for the bill for electric supplied."
NOW I WAS NOT LIVING AT MY MOMS HOUSE BUT ALL MY BILLS WHERE BEING SENT TO HER ADDRESS.

My paycheck is suppose to get garnished and I applied for Legal Aid and was declined. I was mailed pamphlets about debts and noticed it mentioned there can only be one head of household per house and since I'm the only one here do I qualify since I'm single and live alone with no help. Because the most they should be able to garnish then is 10% which I can live with but if its 25% I'm going to fight it as soon as I get the papers if I'm ever served with them officially. I only found out about the garnishement early from online because of a friend. I'm just curious about this and please nice and honest answers or I will report you for abuse.

I'm 28, single, no kids, low income, no debt.
I have some dental problems that need attention (I'm not in too much pain) but I also want to start saving to buy a house.

My preference is the house. Is that unwise?

As i pay only once a month by d/d i was wondering if there is a law that states i cant pay twice a month by cash, therefore reducing the interest to 2 x 2 week periods instead of 1 x four weekly.
