You purchase a money order with cash, and to a business, money orders are received as cash, but unless you have the receipt, don't try to use one at the grocery store or many retail stores, because they won't accept it.

Cash for groceries. Cash for gas/fuel,mini mart store.

Money Orders for bills, credit cards, car payments. Keep the receipt!
