Personal Finance - October 2006

Ok here is the thing. I am a 3/4 student I take 9 units at a community college each semester and I do get aid for that. However my personal finances and recently become strapped do to people owning me money I am unable to collect and a recently unexpected move. In order to make this horrible move I has to use one of those Advance America things I know it will be hard to get out of that being that I live pay check to pay check as it is. I thought about getting a student loan to pay off some bills but I have poor credit. Any suggestions that might help me get back in the PLUS! If loans are a possiblity could you recommend a loan company that might approve it.

I am in Canada, and I have some savings.
I own a home, but work for myself.
My spouse works as well.
We want to travel now and not wait until retirement.,while our health is good.
Retirement is a scary thought as income decreases.
I would like help to figure this out so we can live without fear.

I was layed off 4 months ago and have $5 k cash balance that can either take in a lump sum or put in a roth ira. I want to cash out on it to pay for my braces is that a good idea? Or should I put in a roth ira then borrow from it? Any financial specialist that can help?

I recently send alloy.com a very small check in payment for some merchandise. The merchandise was no longer in stock so my order was cancelled. They did not cash the check however they will not return the check to me. Are they supposed to return the check if they are not going to use it? Or should I just correct my checkbook and not worry about it?

i have never sold anything on the internet before.so i am leery.
i recieved a potential buyer. It is from a 3rd party and I stated i would only accept a personal check or a cahiers check, and i would have to have the money up front before i shipped. well their response is that the coat is going to their client in africa and they are paying for shipping and handling and they will send the money first and they have no problem paying. they seem to want my name and address and phone number. In the ad i placed my phone number in already, and i have recieved no call.. am I being suspicious?? this whole thing seems shady.. what is the best way to handle this??

How do i get my money back from a fine i have recieved for going over my over draft? (yes i was stupid enough to go over it on more than one occation)

I just posted my first products on eBay, selling them in Auction Format. Now I have found that my goods are watched by some people, but no bids. I think they just wait until it's about to close then place a bid. Is the game just being played this way? Can I do something to boost my price, I mean, I just don't want to lose money. If I'm selling at these original prices, I am losing money.

I don't want to cheat anyone, or make a big profit. I just want to sell it at my expected price.
