I have a friend whom is a handyman for a living. He wants to upgrade to "contractor". Was told that his vehicle would need more insurance. Which in Philly, would be thousands extra. He would like to purchase contractor's insurance, but does not want to pay more for his vehicle. Any suggestions?

I filed a property claim on my Homeowners insurance policy. I received the initial payment on the claim and will receive the final payment after submitting receipts on how much it cost to repair the damages. My question is how do I get the final deferred payment if I do the work myself. I would only have the receipts for the material and not the labor. I'm also considering using a less expensive material on my house than what was originally on the house. How do I get the full final payment for my house if I can't produce receipts for the labor or if I use a least expensive material on my house. Please advise.

I lost my insurance about a year and a half ago and have not been able to obtain more since. I currently trying to get work but will have to work as a contractor for a while. The only insurance available for temp workers has pre-existing clauses. Same with insurance purchased privately.

I have a disease called hyperhomocysteinimia(spelling), and also hypothyroidism. I have not seen a doctor or taken medication since losing insurance. Now I have pins and needle sensations in legs and arms and sometimes chest pains and back pains. I know I need medical help but it is something I can't pay for. I don't qualify for our local assistance programs. What else can I do without driving my family into debt.

I asked same question earlier but got only 1 response. Thought I would try a different category.

What do I do? Is there anything or any orginaztion that can help me get some sort of assistance even though I don't have insurance?? I lost EVERYTHING and the people who own the storage said that if I didn't purchase insurance through them or if I don't have renters insurance basicaly I'm screwed. Is this true?? They didn't even contact me until 6 days AFTER the flood to advise me that I had any possible damage, how is that fair?

Is an insurance company legally required to notify the person who's life is being insured? If not is there any way to see if a policy has been taken out in your name?

I once read one involving history, Churchill, and something about 'no way are we going to pay your claim' or something like that . . .it was hilarious - if anyone has that, I'll pick it for the best answer! And if you don't know that one, please tell me your favorite anyway~!
