I was recently involved in an accident with a cab. The accident was the cab's fault. The cops gave him a ticket. The cab company is self insured and has agreed to pay for the damages. My insurance company is Geico. I am wondering if I should call Geico anyway? Does it hurt me in anyway to get my insurance company involved?

I work for an insurance agency and love my job, but have been unhappy recently due to being passed over for a promotion. Yesterday my brother-in-law offered me a job working for the insurance agency that he is manager of, and it is for a lot more money then what I am making now. I would be a fool to pass up more money, because lets face it nothing is getting any cheaper these days yet I feel guilty for considering the new job.My brother -in-law and my current boss and I all 3 worked for a different insurance agency together so we are all friends. Should I go to my boss and let him know about the offer and see if he counter offers or should I just take the new job and give my 2 weeks notice? Please help!

I lost both my jobs as a result of this, along with a 2 month gap of unemployment. My back, which I had surgey on in 2001, had been fine but now feels the same way it did prior to surgery. Im on my way to my last chiropractor visit, and my back progress has just gotten worse over time. I have an attorney, but I don't feel they're really worried about me. Any help from my fellow yahooligans would be great.

How do you know when you should file a loss claim on your homeowners policy versus just eating it? Are there any rules of thumb? A friend had his laptop stolen out of my car ($2,800). What will happen to my insurance premium if I file the claim on my homeowner's policy? Not sure what to do....

I had someone once tell me there were insurance companies that acted like credit unions. Where the members owned the company and it made things cheaper. Does anyone know about these? Is there a list to choose from, provided you are qualified.

My nephew started a new job and put his girlfriend on his insurance. The company just found out they were not married and told him he could not put her on his insurance and canceled her.
They are living together and have an 8 month old baby.

My apartment complex (in California) is forcing their tenents to purchase rental insurance. They will not renew your lease without proof of renters insurance. Is this legal? I know that it is a good idea to have rental insurance, but I am curious if you can legally be forced to buy it.

Who is liable if someone trips over a raised pavement marker in a commercial parking lot? The operator of the lot, the owner of the lot, the installer of the marker? All three? If the answer differs by state, I'm interested in CA, but would be interested in where to look to find state-specific info.

Because of high winds and rain the electricity went out and because of this his sump pump failed. The sewer backed up and he got 6 inches of water. His insurance said since it wasn't a broken pipe or natural disaster they won't cover. I estimate about $5,000 in damages. What are his alternatives. He lives in Syracuse NY, in a developement area.
