You have been aproached by the editor of gentlemen's magazine to carry out a research study. The magazine has been unsuccessfull in attracting shoes manufacturers as advertisers. When the sales force tried to secure advertising from shoe manufacturer, they were told men's clothing stores are a small dying segment of their business. Since genetlemen's magazine goes chiefly to men's clothing stores, the menufacturers reasoned that it was, therefore not a good vehicle for their advertising. The editor believes that a survey (via mail questionnaire) of men's clothing stores in the united states will probably show that these stores are important outlets of men's shoes and that they are not declining in importance as shoe outlets. He asks you to develop a proposal for the study.Develop questions of various levels that will enable you to develop a specific proposal.

Direct mail marketers (i.e. junk mailers) sometimes give you stickers with instructions to do something useless with them. Publisher's Clearing House is notorious for this; you have to find the right stickers (which are strategically placed among the ads) and put them in the right place in order to be eligible to enter the sweepstakes. My favorite is the "Yes!" sticker you are supposed to put on your response. Like I would bother send it in if my response was "No", or even better, like they would cancel my order and return my money because I didn't put the "Yes!" sticker on the form.

This is of course an attempt to make people feel important. But, what is this practice called? Is there a marketing industry term for it? Or some slang term that someone has come up with? Maybe there is a broader term that includes this (besides "gimmick").

I am looking for new tag line for our business. We install telephone systems, computer networks, cabling, fiber optics, nurse call, security cameras and all the like. We (the company) have been trying to come up with some lines but so far havent found one that just hit it on the head. We have used in the past "Wiring your business to the world", "Connecting you to the world", "Taking communications into the next generation". One we have thought about is "Connecting people with Technology", but we are not sure yet. Anyone have some ideas? I think we just need a few more heads to make it work.

I am looking to go into a major in marketing, and I am curious if I have the characteristics of a good marketer. I have study business and marketing throughout high school, and have always been interested in in marketing and advertising. I see myself as a very determined, motivated, and creative person. But what does it really take to be an excellent marketer?

Our branding right now is 'get ready to evolve' so we are looking for suggestions on something cheap that we can give away to people who visit our booth at a trade show that has something to do with 'evolution' or 'evolving'. Potentially something we can put branding on that is not ultra-expensive. We are a software company.

I know it probably makes it sund cheaper. Like instead of saying 70-00, the product will be priced at 69-99.

Is there maybe another reason for that?

We have a budget of $50K for Internet media spending during June / July 2007 for the promotion of a southern California carnival - rides, games, shows, food, family entertainment.

Target audience - Teens to families with young kids

Goals - create awareness & sell tickets (through the carnival website)

Past internet marketing tactics: Google, Yahoo, MSN PPC

SEO is not needed.

We have ideas, but would like to get your feedback.

Where would you spend the $50K to get the most results?

Mobile phones are everywhere today and people almost always have their cell phones with them. Has anyone used mobile marketing to reach your customers? What do you think should be the factors to consider when using mobile marketing? What will work and what will not work -- especially from the perspective of the small business owner? Is it something that business owners need to try NOW or should small businesses let the big boys try it out first?

Company engineers high-end consumer electronics. Need a good promo item/client gift that represents exclusive, total package engineering services. Trying to keep the price to about $50 each. I really need something innovative and new--no keychains, pens or calendars. Something totally eye-catching or memorable, but not cheap or cheesy.

Struggling! Help!
