My wife became pregnant unexpectedly, and had to go on bed rest. We were doing fine financially until then, but once she had to stop working, we lost a lot of income. I got behind on our bills, and had to use credit cards to pay the essentials. Now I have over 400 a month in minimum monthly payments alone, not including mortage payments. I want to ask my aunt to loan us a considerable amount of cash to pay off our credit card debt over a 4 year period. How should I ask her, or should I ask at all?

While in school my ex wife and I used my student loans also as living expense taking out extra because of the lower interest rates rather than credit cards. I am now divorced, stuck with the huge payment and thinking about filing bankruptcy. I know it's dificult to get student loans dischagred but I was wondering if this living expense amount might be able to be considered (or a porition of it) sense i'm no longer with this person and it's created the main reason I might have to file bankruptcy?

My boyfriend and I are thinking of buying our first home, I'm a student, therefore minimal income (until summer 2008), he works, and we know nothing about buying property. We started saving up recently and have a few hundred pounds but from now on we want to start saving more every month until next year, when we want to get a mortgage.

I have seen banks offer mortgages with 0% deposit required, should I be wary of these? How about interest only mortgages? There's so many types of mortgages, it's hard to figure out the advantages and disadvantages of all.

Apart from a deposit, what other kind of money allowances should we make (I know we should put money aside for stamp duty, furniture and repairs/diy for the new house). Is there anything else we should think about?

Any other useful information?
