I know that I could start an ebay store and that would provide quite a bit of marketing. If I decide to host my own web site though, what are some effective marketing tips?

My current company is saying that I must tell them who I'm going to work for. There is a confidentaility clause in my contract saying that I can't take information out of the business with me etc. but nothing to say I have to disclose the name of my new company.

I've asked a question about whether I could be classed as self-employed or not. I am from Germany and I've been working as a freelance translator in London area for the past 3 years (translating from German to English). I have no National Insurance in this country (cos I never needed to apply for one), and I do not do bookkeeping. I just have several permanent clients, and whenever any one of them come to London, they contact me, and I translate for them. I do not operate from an office or home, and I just meet my clients where they want me to come. Some times I don't get any calls for 2,3, 4 days in a row, and sometimes I get to translate 5 days a week (it all depends on luck!). I usually earn about £800 a month, and I ALWAYS get paid in cash.
Now someone said "failing to have evidence of your turnover can be just as bad as pretending it doesn't exist. What if the taxman says Aha! but you might have been making £8000 a month! Eh? Eh?? Keep Good Records." But HOW do I keep records?

As a sole proprietor, I am receiving commission checks the last week of december 2006 and some I will receive the first week of January 2007 (but they were written and mailed the last week of December).
If I deposit all of them in January 2007, even though they were written and sent in 2006, does this income go on my 2006 or 2007 tax return?

I need your advices. Please.

I called the creditors today becaue I had problems to pay debts for past three years. I finally got a stable and good job and really wanted to paid off my debts month by month.

But the creditors told me that they are going to sue me if I don't pay everything today. I told them I can't pay $30,000 debts today if I have lots money today I will. The creditor cuts half of my debt $15,000 and asked me to paid off for next five days; otherwise, they are going to sue me. I don't understand..Can they really do this?

After hours conversation, I gave them my checking account information, and I have to find $15,000 in five days. What did I do?
I am scare and really don't konw what I should do.....

If I really can't find $15,000 for next five day, what I should do? I really need your advices.

I really really want to pay off my debts, but right now I think maybe I shouldn't......

What shuold I do? Thank you very very much for your advices.

When you win a lawsuit against the above because of breaking contracts,falseifeing documents, and breaking confidentiality why do their insurance companies take so long to pay up?
The district judge gave them 24 hours to pay us and they never done it.
Don't give me the BS about paper work.
Would you wait a month or what would you do?

I just opened a Forex currency trading account. I have been trading stocks and options for a number of years. I was thinking of moving into the Euro from the dollar because I am concerned about U.S. Dollar weakness moving forward but I see that the Euro is trading at 1.32 to the U.S. dollar now, that is nearly an all time high. I don't really understand the state pension, it says it is based on ni contributions so does that mean you get more or less depending on how much you earned? And if you were on benefits all your life does that mean you don't get pension?
I am asking this hypothetically I am a long way from receiving pension yet:)

Hi, I lost my wallet and I had 2 credit cards. I just called in to report them lost. I asked if there were any fake purchases and there wasen't. I think I lost one of those cards about a year ago or so. The credit card companies cancel both my cards and said I should get them in about 5-10 days with a new number on them. Will this hurt my credit and/or lower my credit score? If so, how much would my credit score get lowered by? How many point? I think the last I checked I had a score of 830(yes 830). How does this hurt me? Please help, any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm considering switching from Visa to American Express, because they are offering me a much better APR. I'm wondering if it's worth the switch. I'm slightly confused on the difference between an American Express card and a Visa or Mastercard.
