I live in a 1 bedroom apt. in a rent controlled building in Los Angeles. My new wife moved in and the landlord is increasing the rent. I'm assuming this is legal but is there a limit to the increase? I am currently month to month and I should also note that I never signed a lease 7 years ago.

Thanks in advance.

I've posted ads already, for walking dogs and pet/house sitting in my area.
How much should I charge for dog walking?
What about pet or house sitting while the owner is out of town?
What do I need to know if someone asks to board their pet at my place instead?
Would I need insurance? Are there any legal considerations?
Thanks :)

I'm 34 and was planning on getting a house next year. My credit card debt also happens to be 5,000. I have a good job, no kids, but do take care of my mom finantially. What should I use the money for? house? debt? something else? I'm thinking if I pay down debt I might get a better credit score but no money for downpayment. Also, should I wait until next year to cash it? - for tax purposes

I live in a small town of about 8,000-10,000 and there is a "coffee shop" for sale, I've always dreamed of owning my own business, and especially something like the coffee shop that's available. I'm currently taking management courses at a University and I worked in the food business for a while at a fast food restaurant. While I'm probably not the best, I sure think I would have a lot to offer myself and the community for me owning my own business. What are some thoughts and considerations you would take if you were going to open up your own business. Do you have any ideas on a name? My last name is Wyse (sounds like WISE) so that could possibly be incorporated with the name of the business.
~I will choose a best answer!~

Shouldn't the value of an in-the-money call options on an equity that is fairly illiquid sell at a premium?

My thinking went along the lines of being able to aquire an asset at a fixed price in a timely fashion without driving up the price of the underlying dramatically (which would happen in the case of acquiring it via the open market).
