The ABC's of getting out of Debt. A book produced by the Rich Dad Poor Dad series. I think the author's name was Garrett not sure though. The book shows you the ins and outs of how the credit evaluator evaluated and thus give out credit scores.

Getting a credit card is one way to build your credit history - as it any other loan (mortgage, auto loans etc, though you will not get the best rates without any credit history).

The one card that you should consider is the Citi Platinum Select Mastercard. Citibank claims that they will accept applicants with no credit history. (check out the resources below).

Otherwise, get get a secured credit card from a bank. Make sure it reports to the three major credit bureaus Experian, TransUnion and Equifax.

Pay your bills on time and within 6 to 12 months, you should have established a decent history.
