What factors should I consider when trying to pick an accountant? This year I got married, bought a house, my wife is in graduate school, and I am repaying my school loans, so I am expecting to make out pretty well tax wise and would like to get a start on the impending tax season.
Also, are "chain" accountants like H&R Block or Jackson Hewitt any better/worse than local accountants? Is it better to work with a smaller accountant from whom I can get personal service?

Was wondering how much buying a point affects your interest rate. An eighth of a percentage point? A quarter? A half?

I am at a cross roads of sorts and would like advice. I am an Industrial Engineer by profession and am looking to make a career change - manufacturing is dying out. I have been studying to take the GMAT (for a long time now) with the aim of getting into a good B-School. I score in the 90+ percentile range in the verbal and only in the 50+ percentile range in maths. I just don't seem to have a talent for numbers despite my engineering background. As a result, I am looking to getting into a b-school that is not that competitive - further, given my numbers handicap, I am not sure what I should specialize in. Any ideas, suggestions would be welcome. Ideas on alternate careers will also be welcome - thanks.

We are contracted with Mercedes homes in Florida and have goven a $30000 deposit which they say is non-refundable. We have been unable to sell our current home and want to know if anyone has had any success in getting a refund back from Mercedes and if so, how did you do it?

I'm about to sign a sale contract with a home builder, the house is in Riverside, CA. i heard some comment that i only need to have a real estate agent to take care and review my contract and escrow paper, not lawyer. is that true? somehow with all the research i've done online i'm not so convincing of that idea. this is the first time i buy a house so i have no clue at all who is better.please advise. and if i do need a real estate attorney, please give me some recommendation in Riverside,CA or around the city. It'd be nice too if you could give me an idea of how big the attorney charge will be.
I'm also being told that i don't need to hire a home inspector since the house is brand new and come with warranty.again i'm not very convincing. so i need more advise and opinion from more people and recommendation for home inspector too. please also let me know the inspection charge range if possible. thank you!

I would think that due to their very large size that they would be far less discriminating in how they choose their clients than the small prestigious family-run Swiss banks who like to retain a reputation of only serving the very best.
If this is of importance -- I'm not filthy rich, but I'm certainly not a pauper either.
By the way -- I'm not hiding anything, but I don't trust the stability of similar up-and-coming banks in developing countries and I've had numerous privacy issues with American banks.

Can a non-immigrant visa holder (a J1 visa, if this is pertinent) get a mortgage with a U.S. citizen to buy a house? Credit history is pretty good but the visa holder will be the one making all the mortgage payments so it would be good to be included on the mortgage. Any suggestions for buying a house whilst being a citizen of another country would be most appreciated.

I live in NW Washington near a small island chain known as the San Juans. I have an interest in electric vehicles... I wonder if I could sell them to islanders as a main means of transportation on the islands. I think it would appeal to their sense of wanting to preserve the islands' natural surroundings, and lessen the impact etc. I could have a few electric cars on each island and spend a day on each island... Plus, this would give me a good excuse to relocate to the islands. Here's a link to the type of vehicle I'd be trying to sell.

Medical Bills from late husband caused me to loose everything.
Have no home to mortgage, lost it.
Working over 1 1/2 yr at present job.
Receive widow benefits from social security.
Have only 1 secured loan for 4 months taken to re-establish credit history from my credit union.
Have virtually no bills. I live with my elderly Mom.
Need $ to help do some rehab on her home to make it more liveable for me.
Also need to help son with his family custody and divorce.
So far, no one will talk with me because of bankruptcy and no real established credit.
Where do I go from here? Are there lenders out there with out high usuery fees?
I'd be willing to have automatic electronic payments.
