Technology is a double edged sword. It can be used to facilitate and accelerate destruction and can be used to facilitate and accelerate positive change. I am looking for the most positive use of technology in the world today.

My boyfriend and I rented ( 1 year lease) and signed seperate leases. Now we split and still live togeter. He agreed at the beginning to pay for all bills and I would buy food and christmas gifts for every one. Now with only one weeks notice he wants me to pay half the rent and pay him back for all the deposits and utilities.
I think it is fair that I pay half the rent but he hasn't givin me enough time to collect the money for it, as rent is due now. I have to return the presents for his family that I bought to help pay my rent. I don't think it is fair that he asks me to pay back the deposits and past rent that he offered to pay for in the begining.
Any attorneys out there with a legal answer and other opinions would help.
Thank you!

My husband and I may have a chance to take on my former marital home from my ex-husband since he stopped paying the mortgage and my name is legally still on it. It is not in a great area, and he has let it fall into serious disrepair. The choices are to either take it on and repair it to make it liveable for us and our kids, or to let it go into foreclosure and still be liable for the balance financially. Taking on the mortgage would save us money in rent (about $500 per month), but we have little liquid money to work with in a repair capacity. What additional concerns should we look out for and what would make this a smart thing to take on?

I currently have a case going on that is likely to settle within the next 6 months, worse case scenari is £500,000 GBP, but expected to be 7 figures.
I currently pay out expenses of just over £3,500 per month, £60k in total for legal and medical expenses.
I am currently looking at private banking for help and future investment, but dont like the commitment terms they are offereing.
Does anyone know of how I can approach personal lenders. My case is sound, so there is no risk. I would then be in a position to invest where I want too rather than have to take the terms on offer for the next x years.
I have legal documentation and my solicitor would help in any way needed. My high street bank, Lloyds TSB wasn't interested even when they asked for an underwriting and got it!
Thanks in advance

When I did my taxes (at HR block last February) they didn't count the car I donated. It was worth $4,060 at the time of donation and in good working condition. I kept the receipt and am now wondering if they made a mistake? If not, could someone (like a CPA) explain to me why they didn't count this large donation?

Thanks!
