I found out that my house falls with in an area of soil contamination. The letter came from the Health Dept. and it stated that there was no threat to the municipal wells at this point but they are setting up a task force to monitor what the EPA is currently doing to protect the water source. What I am concerned about is whether I am required to disclose this if I go to sell my home. Also property values...will this effect the value of my home?

I recently had my credit card number stolen. They used the number without entering the pin. I cancelled the credit card so I was wondering if even if they have the number would they still be able to use it?
SO if they have the number can they still use it?

Right now I work in Records at the Law Enforcement Center and I'm really getting into the law enforcement career. I don't want to be a police officer. I've lived with that my entire life--my dad and brother are both cops--and I've seen what it does to you, and your family. Recently I've been considering Forensics or Coroner work. Any suggestions on classes I should start taking for either fields, or other suggestions on other fields I haven't considered would be much appreciated!
Thanks for your help!!!

I was notified yesterday that my plant is closing down. My wife was told 2 weeks ago that her plant was closing down to move overseas for cheaper labor. There are no other jobs within an hour and 1/2 of our home that pays over $10 an hour. I am wanting to go to college to get a degree so I can get a good job.The problem is the only jobs in our area are minimum wage jobs and it takes both of us making over $10 an hour full time to make ends meet. We have already got rid of everything we didn't need bill wise. We had our phone service cut off, our internet off, and our satalite tv turned off. We have around $5000 in miscleaneous debt that we have been trying to pay off ( car payment, credit cards, and bank loans) We have a mobile home which is several years old and can't sale it for what we owe. Anyone got any suggestions on paying these off instead of bankrupsy? Having this mobile home we cannot relocate to find decent paying jobs. Should we consider bankrupsy? Hows it work?

Base + commission would mean the sales rep is making like $800,000 a year off a 10% commission. I'm talking high circ magazines that have $180,000 full-page rates. what are your thoughts and sources?

we all know smaller magazines you get the base + the commission that you have to fight for to make six figures. i was wondering about the large scale,.

thanks

Wondering if you can improve an existing patent such that its patentable. For example, lets say someone owns the patent to the "telephone." Someone else improved the telephone such that it incorporated callerID, touch tone dialing, and a video-phone feature. Can this new inventor patent the improvement?

If not, can they at least use the idea without infringing on others' patents?

Thanks for your help!

I received 2 awful natured phonecalls just after midnight tonight (l'm in the UK). I work at a hotel, alone, at night. Its isolated and l've only worked here 5 weeks. I had to listen to various criminal messages (don't want to repeat them, the sort on crimewatch UK) thinking l was holding to speak to the caller. He said he was from BT emergency room and a guest had triggered the system by using certain words and there were phonecalls from people wanting room service/ sandwhiches to crime related. The duty manager advised me to call BT who are aware, the police have been told too. The caller phoned back trying to book a room and l kept saying call back in the morning to speak to reservations, caller started asking where did l live, naming local towns and roads.....its takes all sorts! Some people have nothing better to do and l'm upset and angry. Has anyone else received these nasty calls?. The caller definitely aimed at this hotel & prob many others tonight. Any advice appreciated!!

I just heard walmart is phasing out there lay a way program.Darn it to heck thats how i do christmas. I know I will do OK but what about families that depend on that service to provide a decient holiday for ther children and family? We have no other department stores where i live that do lay a way.Talk about last minute announcements.Looks like they could have told people back in July so we could prepare.I know this seems trivial to some but where I live walmart lay a way has been a way of life for 25 years. They came in and the smaller chains closed.Oh well what can we do or say? walmart rules ...

I don't know much about mutual funds, but I'm told if I were to invest 100K over 10years there would be about 400-440K. This was assuming roughly a 15% return per year. I was told this is on the side of a non-aggressive fund. Or is this probably an aggressive fund? So, in a nutshell...I would like to invest this money somewhere for about 10 years until I'm ready to buy another home...
