I was unemployed from June to October. I got a job at McDonald's while waiting for a job (I know next to nothing about) through a friend to come about. I was told that I would only be working on the weekends.. but i started working monday the 16th and worked 10 days straight. Now the job (2.50 more than what i make now with longer and steadier hours + overtime) i was waiting on wants me.... i am trying to decide if i should jump ship at McDonald's (where i have only worked 10 days) and get take the other high paying job with my friend. Somone has to have an itelligent answer.

If you've only been at McD for 10 days, and this other job is the one you really wanted, I'd say go for it. McD's is not a career. And since you've only been there 10 days, you don't need to worry about them giving you a bad reference in the future, since you will just be leaving this job off your resume!

I would be considerate though when giving notice. See if you can start your new job in 2 weeks, then give McD's 2 weeks notice. It's always a good idea to leave ANY job on a good note, even if you think you will never ever want to work there again. It creates good job karma for you in the future to not hose your employer on your way out the door.

Good luck, and congrats on getting the job you really wanted!

I wouldn't worry about McDs. The fact that you've only been there 10 days probably means you're not the missing link for the company. Go ahead and just give them a call-say sorry, but I'm not coming back. A company like that is used to quick and high turnover. Then go ahead and take the job you wanted!

You need to define your goals. If you are contemplating staying in a lower paying job with shorter and less steady hours, there must be some reason you are thinking of staying. I see nothing in your question that would allow anyone to actually "weigh" the 2 sides, so let me ask you, why are you thinking of staying?

don't show up for work at Mc, one day and you won't have a job. Take the money and smile all the way to the bank
