I just heard walmart is phasing out there lay a way program.Darn it to heck thats how i do christmas. I know I will do OK but what about families that depend on that service to provide a decient holiday for ther children and family? We have no other department stores where i live that do lay a way.Talk about last minute announcements.Looks like they could have told people back in July so we could prepare.I know this seems trivial to some but where I live walmart lay a way has been a way of life for 25 years. They came in and the smaller chains closed.Oh well what can we do or say? walmart rules ...

Yes, they are ridding of lay-a-way. They claim they are losing money with it???WTF-ever.
Wal-mart is making alot of changes..not so much good ones. We recently got a Super Walmart and everyone was so excited. BUT....now their prices are slowly rising while their local competetor Meijers is lowering theirs. I think they are setting themselves up for losing customers. I love Walmart but I shop where prices are lowest.
I think it has to do with the fact that they have recently fought through some law suits and lost and we are paying for it. They just recently were sentenced to pay employees of PA stores 78 million dollars.

It does not help when you read up on some of those eBay books and they are actually telling people to put items on layaway which you think will sell, if they are making money pay for them to get out of layaway. If not no big deal, just say you don't want them anymore....
Or those who put items on layaway to get them off the market so there same item they have will have a better chance of selling and making money.
I do not blame any store for not doing this when there other people doing this out there! Go into ebay and check out what sellers are doing.....It does hurt peeps like you....

Actually they are stopping the layaway program because fewer and fewer people are using it. With credit cards and people wanting everything NOW, the idea of putting something on layaway has become almost obsolete!

Instead of layaway, you are going to have put your money away and save to buy what you want for cash!

That is the way the world is going. If there was a demand for layaway, you know Wal-mart would still offer it!

yes..I will miss layaway too. But it wasn't making much money for Walmart anymore. They are changing so their stock can grow. They have to start trimming the places where they are taking the biggest losses.
