MSN Money doesn't seem to have this metric? and which financial sites are the best? Is Smart Money, a fee based site, worth the fee and/or should one stick to the free sites?

I'm trying to do my own due diligence, as they say, and the possibilities start to expand beyond what I feel I can reasonably research. So I've got one closed question and lots of open questions. Thank you.

Please advise on how to estimate the estimated tax liability on short term stock sales in any given quarterly period.

For example, I computed my short term gains this period to be $1000. My Pennsylvania income tax rate is 3.07% and I fall into the 25% Federal Income Tax bracket. So, am I correct to estimate my paymet by first computing the PA state tax liability $1000 * 0.0307 = $30.7, and then to calculate the Federal liability by first subtracting state tax payment from the short term capital gain $1000 - $30.7 = $969.3 and then computing the federal liablity on this net amout $969.3 * 0.25 = $242.325?

No guesses please.

I graduated from college about a year ago and I just started working at a steady job six months ago, I'm just reestablishing myself and need some cash to get settled in a place of my own (I've been sleeping on a friends couch!) I am more than willing to pay the 5000 back but I'm afraid with my credit, I don't qualify at my bank.

I own a number of stocks, mutual funds, and ETFs through Schwab, which I follow on Schwab's website. But I'd like to get a more sophisticated tool, something that allows me to download price and volume data onto my own computer, so I can generate lots of charts and do a bit of technical analysis. I'm definitely not a day trader, but I'd like to do more of the "buy and hold for a few weeks then sell" style of trading. Plus, it would be useful to keep tabs on my various buys and sells, so I can easily compute how much profit or loss I've made on a given position. I've done things like buy 1000 shares of XYZ, then later sell 300 shares of XYZ, then later buy 200 shares of XYZ. Can anyone recommend a good software tool for this? I don't mind paying for it, if it fits my needs.

I'm participating in a stock market SIM game, and it only runs for a short time, so we're looking for stocks that would blow into immediate profit, soon. Even if they will probably fall into the ashes, any stock is appreciated.

Okay. I have a great boss who has been fairly supportive. Friday he calls me in a meeting & says he has to write me up for attitude in an email with another employee. Fine. Not a problem. Apparently, this employee has complained to her boss & has complained to my bosses boss. My boss says that I should start getting my resume out, because he can't control what his boss can do. He can only "bat for me for so much". I'm a great worker, and I'm not making excuses. We all have a bad day, or a lazy employee who refuses to respond to emails so you get tired of it & you make it known because you want your work to be done. Anyway....long story short...what's going on? Is this something I should really be concerned about? Are they looking to lay off someone, and this is a reason to fire instead of lay off? I've been there over a year, and have had some positive chages occur from some of the things I've done. If I put my resume out, what do I tell potential employees? Please...no battering..

This is not for me...for a friend...I have my own employment questions I have posted & will be posting later...so please don't be confused by them.
He's going to see HR today & would like to negotiate a higher pay rate. How should he go about doing that...what's the "normal" increase from temporary to permanent?
Thanks!
PS*** I asked this yesterday, and I think peole thought he meant he was on his probation period already hired with the job. He is NOT. He is working as a temporary, getting hired on.
