has anyone ever heard of www.governmentgrants.com (not a government website) ? I just received a check and a letter from them. the check is for me to deposit, then to cash and send to a place called InfoDirect which (the check is to pay taxes on the grant) and then they will forward me the balance of the grant.

Oh yeah, the check I received is from an art gallery and I was told they are a sponsor to www.governmentgrants.com. The check is legitimate and can be deposited immediately.

Does anyone out there know if this sounds legit? I did file some grant applications last year and heard nothing. So I am wondering if this sounds like a scam to you.

I am contemplating quitting my job to start a business. I have plenty of cash, but just in case, I am considering withdrawing a small amount from my 401k each year -- if I have to. My question is, if I have ZERO income next year, and I withdraw a tiny amount (say, $5k or $10k).. I understand there is a 10% penalty for early withdrawal, but wouldn't I be taxed at the lowest tax bracket, and also, if I withdrew a small enough amount isn't is possible that I could withdraw the money for (nearly) no interest?

Ive seen on the internet all these real estate deals and books that show you techniques on how to buy a house or build a real estate empire. Can you really buy a house with no money down and bad credit. Can you buy a preforeclosure house with bad credit?
Is this stuff legit or complete fantasy to heighten someone elses pocket book and lead you with false promises

I am currently employed, but working part-time in retail, and I have a $360 car not to pay for every month. Also car insurance, credit cards, and other expenses. I find myself not ever having any money for myself and my mother. I always apply for jobs on-line but I get no where!! I have a high school diploma and I am going to college, but I need something now! Does any know where I can go or apply to that is decent and would give me a chance?

One of two partners (partner A) changed the locks on the doors and bank accounts while the other was away. Partner A has taken 70% of the income (k1's) through draws. Partner A through deposition states he disolved the company by the end of 2005 but continues to write checks from the new bank account of the business owned by both partners A and B. (although it is under the company they both owned only partner A has his name on it as a signer, partner B has no access at all to these monies). Partner A wrote checks (from that account) to his new company for large sums of money and then again to himself in march of 2006. He incorporated and says dissolved by Dec 2005 without distributing the monies evenly or correctly.

Partner B is interested if the thresshold for embezzlement has been reached and if a criminal complaint could be filed? police station or District Attorneys office?
