A friend states that the US Mints which are part of the US Treasury Department are in fact owned and operated by foreign banking institutions. I don't beleive this and need online websites to support my argument.

My husband and I are wondering if you are in arrears on your student loan, and if the government normally applies your tax return to this debt, can you still collect the child tax credit?

I was thinking about starting a website where you can purchase candy online. I do not have a factory and would be using normal kitchen stuff, although i may buy packaging equipment.

Do i need a license to sell it. Also what are the regulations. Any information would help.

I started working in a new position in a new field--I held my last job for 6 years. I went from being in a 3 person office to a HUGE office building with cubicles and such. I have been here since 5/30/06--I am NOT adjusting well to having others look over my shoulder, being the 'new gal', and coming into a field that is so unlike my old one (I was an admin before, now I process payroll for the state). What the position was described as, and what it is is completely different. My boss has admitted that they are aware that I was pulled out of my environment (I applied for an admin position, they offered me this one instead). I will not be returning to my old job (though some days I want to run screaming to it). Any words of advice to help ease the transition? I've never worked in a true office setting with politics, 'games', cliques and watchers before and am not comfortable in it. I'm not a quitter, but I don't want to do this job anymore (EVER). HELP!

If you had a say in the next buisness to open up around the corner from your home, what would it be?

I have a condo in southern California, I could sell it for about $400,000 as it is 1650 square feet, 3bd/2.5 ba and has a yard and 2 car garage. It is pretty much a single family home, only it does not have a front yard and it has a condo ownership.

It is not attached to any other condos and looks like a regular home.

I want to do some light remodeling like a new kitchen, update the bathrooms, and replace the doors and tear down a wall. I have already done a few home improvements like a new patio, new vinyl windows and new paint, appliances and carpet.

My whole project will cost about $33,000 including labor and materials.

My wife and I plan to stay in the house since we have paid it off and it is in a good location in California.

Is $33,000 too much to invest in my condo? I could get 400k now and its not looking so hot. My reason for the updates is not for resell but to make our home more custom so we stay happy where we are.

Back in 2003. Despite detailed records, receipts, complaints to the Department of Justice, police, et cetera. No one helped me or even offered me any advice on how to proceed. As a result, my truck was reposessed in 2004, and despite trying to catch up, my credit still suffered.

Fast forward to 2006. Prior to this incident, my credit report was beautiful. I had R1s all the way down the board. I had long, established credit histories, which were all current. Besides the repo, I've also had stuff hit collections. I've NEVER done a charge off because I opted to pay the full amount in hopes that this would look pleasing on my record.

Is there really no help or no restitution to repair my credit? I've hit a brick wall each and every time. I'm STILL trying to play catch up to this day. It's frustrating because I want to buy a house, but I'm afraid my score isn't what lenders are looking for. Does my credit score BEFORE mean anything in this case, since I'm a victim of ID fraud?

The letter was very basic, stating that either we pay or the check will be reported as a 'hot' check. A copy of our check was attached, and posted on the door. No envelope, nothing. Am I wrong in thinking anyone could have accessed our personal information such as checking account, routing number,etc.. ?

A money order I purchased from a gas station was returned to the bank for insufficient funds. I didn't find out until the people I was paying notified me that I still owed and now also owed finance charges. I don't even know what bank the money order would be drawn on. What can I do to get my money back and avoid the finance charges?

Asking around we find more 'bad' developers, and negative opinons of newly built homes in new subdivisons, than really any that are good. We want to move into a new subdivions with a new home in the STL area, but haven't heard much good about the quality of these new homes. Really want to buy a new home in a new subdivison, live there for 5-7yr, and then sell for a decent profit to build a home per our own specs working with family on a daily basis to ensure it is built right. We could buy an existing home (say 5 to 10 years old) live for 5 years, then sell to build, but think a new home in a new subdivision would make us a better 5 yr investment. Thoughts/Advice please?

I'm not sure how to ask this, so I'll tell you my story real quick. I was offered a job, but it's not the job I want, but my mom and b/f told me to take it, so I'll have a job if the other places don't come through. I have several other interviews lined up, and potentially another offer. I didn't want to accept this job and then quit before I even started working. My mom told me to look out for #1, which is me, and not worry about feeling bad for this place, but I would feel terrible if I was offered another position somewhere else, that was what I wanted, and then quit this place.....does that make sense? Its kinda confusing I think. But I was just wondering what would you do? and have you ever done it before?
