I have recently taken up photography as a hobbie. I really enjoy it and I am thinking about maybe changing my major to photography now. I am just curious how you know if you are taking good pictures. I don't want to change majors and then discover that I am horrible at photography. Please help!

Does anybody know how to make a picture black and white(I know how to do that) but then make only like one part of the picture color. For example you have a picture of you and a rose and you want everything to be black and white, except for the rose. How do you do that? I also need to know what program to use to do it = ] Thanks

Does anyone know how to do this or a place that can do this?
We would like to crop and enlarge a picture of my brother in law to put on his headstone. Everytime we try to enlarge it, it comes out distorted. It's just a regular photo that was taken of him and two of his brothers.
If anyone knows how to do this, would you be willing to try it for me???
Thanks to anyone who can help!

...photographer. Specifically, to market myself, advertise and to go on shoots, commercial or residential, for a profit? I know their are tax issues here. But other than that is it legal or not? You know, without being in business for yourself but under the table. And without making this too complicated here.

For example, I burned a CD with photographs on it. How many years will it last? My mother told me that someone told her 10 years. I find this hard to believe...I thought that they would last a lot longer since they are practically indestructible! I thought a printed photograph might last 10 years, but a CD much longer.

I don't want to earn a degree in grapnic arts or design. I just want to learn to use Adobe PhotoShop. I've taught myself to use quite a few editing & graphics packages over the years--by trial & error & just experimenting. Now, my interest is at the point where I really want to learn PS. I'm 49 years old, and just want to do this because I'm highly interested in the subject and live with a digital camera in my hand. I can't go to school full time (my husband is handicapped & needs me here)... any suggestions? I don't have a lot of $$. Thanks!

Let's say that there's this model.
A photographer takes a picture of the model.. does both the model and the photographer gets the copyright of the photo?
I'm asking this because one of my friend is a model and a photographer asked him to model.
He is worried because the photographer said that it's only for his portfolio, but it might go somewhere else.. such as public websites and God knows where.
If the model doesn't have the copyright.. then the model is screwed?
any comments? suggestions?

I Remember Seeing The Image Of 'Dali Atomicus' (yahoo! search it) And I Just Fell In Love With The Photo..

Thing Is, I Want To Know More!

What Details Can You Tell Me About This Photo, Like:
Who Took It?
How Did They Do It? (some sort of stop motion, i'm guessing)
How Did They Get It All To Float, The Water Like That..
And Are Those Cats Ok?

Or Maybe Other Details (but not about salvador dali himself, just about the image)..

It's Ok If You Can't Answer All Questions, But Something Would Be Appreciated!
Thanks!
