I've searched sites that deal with folk singers (including The Newport Folk Festival) and find all kinds of information about the singers and the folk movement. But there are very little photographs on these sites.

Do any of you know of a site (or sites) that archives photographs of the folk music scene from the 50s and 60s?

It's research for a painting I want to do that pays homage to those early singer - songwriters. Even photos of the old beatnick coffee houses like 'The Gaslight' in New York or 'The Hungry I' in San Fransisco would greatly help.

Thank you.

I am a high school student who has to take photos of the upcoming field trip to Florida. We will be flying from TEXAS. I will be bringing a EOS digital Canon Rebel with lens. I am worried that since the camera is so big, that somebody will try to steal it! Any Suggestions? Also, if I want to go on a ride, and I have my gigantic camera with me, what do I do with the camera? Do I hold on to it during the ride?
Finally, is there any gear that I can get that will prevent me from losing the camera? The camera is quite expensive.

I have been intrested in photography for awhile. I currently have a Minolta x-700 35mm film camera and a Fuji FinePix digital camera. Most of the pictures that I take are with the Minolta. I've been thinking about getting a digital SLR, but not quite sure what to get. I was wondering if anyone out there might have some advice on the advantages/disadvantages of digital SLR to a regular film SLR.

I would also like if you could give me some insight of which digital SLR you would recommed, that would be great. I mostly take landscape/outdoor pictures (main focus is trains). I'm looking for a camera that isn't all that expensive (I know that's hard to find with digital SLRs). Do you think that the price of the digial SLR will decrease at all over the next year or so.

I would like to start selling my pictures and any answers to these questions would help out a great deal.

Thank you.

I have a 8 megapixel digital camera that takes video, I'll be using that to film. I need to be able to splice graphics, film and sound together. Any tips, software recs and ideas would be appreciated.
Oh, and does anyone know where I can get good quality clips of commercials, fashion shows, tv shows etc that i could get into it as well?
And how would I do that?

Thanks!

I am archiving my family photos and when pulling them out of those old sticky page albums a lot of the Poloroids are coming apart. Also, many Poloroids are faded looking and I'm not sure if they were that way to begin with or time took it's toll. Do I have to reprint these on better paper to preserve them over time and can I just use the fronts or do those need preserving on better paper too?

It seems that most professional photographers that I have seen have used flash brackets. What advantages are there to having the flash off to the side rather than directly on top?
