I've searched sites that deal with folk singers (including The Newport Folk Festival) and find all kinds of information about the singers and the folk movement. But there are very little photographs on these sites.

Do any of you know of a site (or sites) that archives photographs of the folk music scene from the 50s and 60s?

It's research for a painting I want to do that pays homage to those early singer - songwriters. Even photos of the old beatnick coffee houses like 'The Gaslight' in New York or 'The Hungry I' in San Fransisco would greatly help.

Thank you.

Tony, I've already tried that. Yahoo provided 96 images. None were vintage photos.

Start with Images.yahoo.com and search on the terms "folk singer" and "beatnik" to start.
