We run a free artists showcasing website. We are wanting to add more showcasers to it so we can appeal to a greater audience. We have tried craigslist as well as a few other free classified ad websites, alas...no luck.
The website is
www.freewebs.com/thesistersgrymm
Anyone got any ideas?

In the first painting, there is a main dressed in a suit facing the bar, and I believe he is smoking a cigar. He is dressed in black, and the bar looks quite classy. In the second painting, which goes with the first, there is a woman standing at the same bar dressed elegantly. I believe she is holding a martini in her hand. There are two different ways to arrange the paintings. Since the man is looking right, and the woman looking left, you can align the paintings so they are facing each other. Or, you can align the paintings so that they are facing away from each other, giving the paintings different meanings. Does anyone know the title of these works of art, or perhaps the artist who created them?

I have a wedding to attend on Saturday and I'm not going to go out and purchase a gift, at the same time I'm aware of etiquette and don't want to show up with nothing. I'm a painter (or at least was) and have about 50 original oil paintings. Would it be fine just to give them one of those (unframed)?

Do you already see the image in your mind and you are just tracing it on the blank canvas until it matches what you see in your mind, or do you have a general idea of what you would like to paint and then just keep creating until you come up with something?
Or is there another way to describe the way you come up with a painting from start to finish?

I jsut got a set of acrylics as a gift, my mom got them for me becasue she knows I love painting with them. However, i dont' know what brand I used at school, and I don't knwo what the best brand is. These are Liquitex Basics, and I am sure, by their name, that there is better out there, those these are not bad at all. I am jsut wondering who has found a really excellent brand.

I am brand-new to oil painting and would greatly appreciate help! The canvas is cotton and came with my kit; I'm assuming it's prestretched. Do I still need to size with rabbit-skin glue or acrylic gesso before priming and painting with oils? I should probably mention the oils are a new kind of paint that is actually water soluble! Also, if anyone knows of an animal-friendly alternative to rabbit-skin glue, that would be amazing. : )
