A friend and I were discussing painters, and she referred to an artist who, after his wife had died, essentially went mad and began painting nothing but redheaded women. She couldn't recall his name. Sounds to me like an amalgam of several different painters. Googling didn't get me far.

I put pics of the painting up on my server:

So I drew a picture outline with pencil, and I want to do a light watercolour wash as the background. I'm thinking I'll do it right over the pencil, then when its dry paint in my lines with acrylic. Will that work or will the watercolour erase the pencil lines?

how did it turn out? i did it last night, i felt a tremendous urge to paint, being influenced by the the sky that was so beautiful. it was homegrown grass, that a friend grew, and it was extremely strong and awesome. i listened to "wish you were here" and it was creepy... but i was kinda dissappointed from the picture- icouldn't quiet control my drawing or the pastels i used, and it turned out 2 b a surreal, disturbing self portrait.

Does acrylic paint work well on silk? If not, are there any products or additives that might alleviate this? Does acrylic paint work well on glass? What if the piece is hung in a sunny window--will the paint bubble & peel?

This question is in relation to a school project about mixing colors. I've looked at some books , but they mostly assume the presence of the color blue already. If I'm doing a watercolor painting, can I create the color blue from scratch? Thanks for your help!

There was a painting that I saw years ago in a magazine (it might have been GQ) that had a painting of Jesus having just the best laugh. It wasn't sacrilegious at all (please I really am not interested in that kind of stuff.)
I thought it was a really nice painting and I was wondering if anyone was familiar with it and who the artist was.
