I'm an artist and I love my Converse Chuck Taylors. Naturally I would like to take my obsession one step further and customize my favorite shoes. Only problem is I've never really painted clothing before and I don't want my work to be ruined easily.

Any ideas on what types of paints to use on my shoes and what I can do to protect the artwork afterwards?

Red is for Love
Pink is for Grace, Joy, and Thankfulness
Yellow is for Friendship..
White is for innocence and secrecy
Coral is for Desire

So when you buy a rose, do you buy it for the smell, and look.. Or do you buy it for the meaning.

I've always been amazed by the street art you find across SF and other places. Some of it is really amazing and beautiful. I would like to try and learn how. Of course, I wouldn't do it on public property. I'm only 16 and I don't want to end up in trouble. I'm thinking I would probably use big paper or wood to spray on. Still, I cannot find where to learn how. I did a search, and all I really got was how to REMOVE the paint. Does anyone know where I can learn to do this? I promise, I won't vandalize someone's property.

Thanks!

I have tried to get information about this painting and have received some good tips but still no answer about whom the artist is or the value of the painting. I have downloaded pictures to this URL- http://s190.photobucket.com/albums/z309/mnmgonzalez/
The signature is M. ALI in the lower right hand corner. Thanks if you give me information or leads on who the painter is or how to get the value.

I've only just started using oil paints as we are using them this semester at college. We are using oil paint all term so it would be nice if i could enjoy using them, it just makes painting a chore with all the cleaning and waiting for dry. I was wondering if anyone had any techniques they use or just any helpful hints in general would be great..just any handy hints please :).

From what I understand,...it is where you take to complimentary colors and make them exactly the same value.

Just to expand,.....say you take orange and blue. Complimentaries right? Ever notice that orange is the lighter color of the pare? When you darken the orange to the exact same darkness as the blue it increases the vibration of the compliments extremely, apart from just using the normal compliments. (I hope this makes sense)
I'm not talking about intensity but value.

Has anyone heard of this? Has anyone painted complimentary colors in this manner? Have you?... I wish to know more about it.

Has anyone heard of this

Afterwards, when you place them side by side, you get alot more illumination or vibration.

My art teacher was telling me to stop painting portraits (and other types) from photos. Is it really that bad to do that? I find that it helps me to better observe details sometimes.

Hello all,
I am doing a question for my art homework. THe question is,
"Use sentences to identify three things in the painting that you believe have symbolic meaning and suggest what they might mean and why"

I have no idea what symbols there are in it! It is just a painting about how horrible Guernica was.

Please help me.. =]

THANX PEOPLE!!!
