For those of us who cannot go to the Louvre or the Met, the Internet is the next best thing.

But art has certainly changed the Internet. When the WWW first started out it was mostly geeks communicating with one another. What web pages or web sites there were then were mostly bland spread sheets styled as typically typed out words.

Look at what we've got now!

Artists have greatly enhanced the Internet, making it more appealing to the mass population, from web site designs to amateur animation film clips to games and so on.

The Internet hasn't changed painting. Painting, and all art, has changed the Internet.

It has changed the amount of people that can be exposed to your art! I have a Deviant Art account and people see my stuff there and help me to better my techniques and inspire me to better my art.

Hardly.

It is just easier to get reference material..but that is true for most 'professions'.
