I agree with using glass paints. There are types that can be painted on and cured in a regular oven, and they can last pretty well, and probably withstand being outside. Try the Pebeo Vitrea type glass paint available from craft and hobby stores or online. Hope this helps.

No problem.
There are special glass paints around that will last and last. I have seen a glass fence around a terrace that was partly painted because the neighbors put in a new window 10 years ago. The paint still looks almost new.

more than likely it will peel off, i recommend using acrylic, the type of paint for glass.

...you also need to give the paint something to adhere to meaning you need to sand it with medium to fine sandpaper or sanding block, a coat of primer wouldn't hurt either.
