I'm a novice at printmaking. I'm interested in creating a 12"x12" print with linoleum. I have noticed that there is unmounted and mounted lino as well as a product called Soft-kut out there in this size. I was wondering if anyone can tell me the main differences between these and what kind of challenges and results I might have. Also, any general tips on getting my previously sketched drawing onto the cutting material would be welcome as well as advice on what paper to use. I will be pressing by hand (no machine).

Thank You!

Can they be used interchangeably with a child's finger painting project? Poster paint has the colors I need (I only find finger paint in ROYGBIV) but I need black and white also. Is there any problem using poster paint instead of finger paint? Only real answers please.

we just returned from the NY museum of modern art. i'm fascinated that the public can go right up to some of the most famous paintings in the world with nothing protecting them. i mean, some wacko could easily destroy them if he wanted to. what if some, innocently enough, sneezed on "starry night" by van gogh? it just boggles my mind.

I'm working on another mathematical piece, this one a cubism style of Da Vincis "Vitruvian Man" (naked guy in 2 simultaneous positions), but i'm having trouble understanding how to do it. I was thinking something collage-ish with individual flat coloured layers for the shades. I'm not that thrilled with the multiple perspectives though, as it's a little too abstract for me.

Any paintings or basic "tutorial" examples of cubism would help.

Also, how long does it take to dry an oil painting before being able to frame and mount it--are there any special drying devices to be used?

Many thanks,

I haven't been able to find any angel paintings that are modern and ethereal on-line. The perfect glowing face, the intense compassion and full-body with flowing robes kind. Would appreciate being directed to such, dated 1990 to now. The old masters never seemed to catch that aura of intense compassion i am looking for, and wanted too many angels to be cherubs instead.

Okay, so here's the thing~ I've always been a watercolor girl but I really wanna get into oil painting, and like an idiot, I applied all the rules of watercoloring to oil painting = = nd all I got in the end was a smudgy brown blah thing T^T

So are there any Painters, who are experts or at least experienced in oil painting, who could give me some (a lot) of tips? :3 please please!

My usual styles are: postimpressionism, realism (somewhat), surrrealism, and a bit of expressionism and pop art

Usual brushes (are these ok for oil paints?): 3/4 Flat Wash, 8 Flat, 10 Round, 6 Filbert, 6 Flat, 2 Flat

*These are the new paints I got, tell me if they suck nd I could use some suggestions on good oils: Art Studio

No help from non painters please! (Kyle, this means you lol)

Thanks to anyone who actually took the time to read all that stuff

I saw this artwork years ago and now I'm trying to remember the name of the artist. Most of the paintings include children and a lot of color, but they have a dark, creepy nature to it. I believe the artist is a female, but I could be completely wrong. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

OMG, is that painting so old it's growing hair? What kind of crap museum lets it's paintings grow old like that? And seriously, when you saw that story, were you immediately riveted and fascinated, or were you like "Huh? and this is headline news WHY?"

I painted onto water resistant nylon (like a wind breaker) but whenever it gets folded, the painted parts stick together. Sure I can do touch ups, but I wanna know if there's a way to just seal it so it doesn't stick to itself. So long as it's really flexible, I would think even painting supplies would work over Jacquard.

Is it just luck more than anything? I have about 20 paintings that I've done that I want to show in a gallery. Where do I begin? I don't have much experience, I'm untrained and I just paint what comes from inside of me. I guess you could call it primitive art or pop art, I'm actually not really familiar with all the terms. I've probably broken all the rules in the painting book if there's even such a thing. But all my peeps find my art really interesting, and they don't bullshyt me, or maybe they do. Thx for your help.
